Echezeaux Grand Cru

This Grand Cru wine is produced between Flagey-Echezeaux and Vosne-Romanée. At the mouth of the Combe d'Orveau, we vinify a 0.30 hectare plot (≈ 0.75 acre), in a well-ventilated area that preserves finesse. The 60-year-old vines grow in a clay-limestone soil, with gravel and clay on a hard limestone substrate.
This Echezeaux Grand Cru has structure and depth. It is the quality of the tannins that structure this wine, with a superbly firm and precise texture. You will appreciate a restrained but complex aromatic expression, with hints of smoke and lichen, with black fruits, and sweet spices. The smooth mineral finish is extremely persistent.
Although this wine can be kept for 10 to 20 years, it also has the distinction of being in place from the start, making its Grand Cru dimension more accessible. For the first 5 years, we recommend decanting an hour before serving the wine.
Depending on the vintage, we use 50% whole-bunch fermentation, and ageing lasts about 18 months in barrels (with 20% of new barrels).

It will pair perfectly with roast duck in sweet and sour sauce, or pumpkin puree with gingerbread, accompanied by a few chestnuts, beef tournedos, or roast chicken with chanterelle mushrooms.
